Miss Fayetteville Dogwood Festival Pageant

Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

Winners are chosen in four age groups: Junior Miss (6-9), Young Miss (10-12), Teen Miss (13-16), and Miss Fayetteville Dogwood Festival (17-22). Contestants compete in three categories: a private interview, evening gown competition, and on-stage interview.

The Miss Fayetteville Dogwood Festival winner receives a $1,000 cash scholarship as well as scholarships to Methodist University, Fayetteville State University, and Fayetteville Technical Community College.

The four young ladies chosen serve as ambassadors and represent the Dogwood Festival and the City of Fayetteville throughout the Southeastern region. They also participate in many local events with the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, The Cape Fear Botanical Gardens, The Downtown Alliance and the downtown Dogwood Festival events.

Contestants also compete for the J.L. Dawkins Community Spirit Award. The award was named for the late Mayor J.L. Ricky Skaggs

April 12, 7:30 p.m.

Theatre

Opening Act: Trae Edwards

Fourteen-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Ricky Skaggs’ career is easily among the most significant in recent country music history. If Skaggs’ burgeoning trophy case full of awards wasn’t already enough evidence of that fact, consider that legendary guitarist Chet Atkins once credited Skaggs with “single-handedly saving country music.” His life’s path has taken him to various musical genres, from where it all began in bluegrass music, to striking out on new musical journeys, while still leaving his musical roots intact.

Dancing with the Fayetteville Stars

Dancing with the Fayetteville Stars

April 13, 7:30 pm, Crown Expo

Dancing with the Fayetteville Stars is CEED’s annual fundraiser for theirLease to Home Program.

CEED Supporters put on their dancing shoes and come from all over the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area to raise funds through Sponsorships and Votes to assist CEED in its mission to create affordable housing.

WHY DO WE DANCE?
In response to the need for safe affordable housing in Cumberland County, CEED created the Lease to Home program in November 2000. Under this program, the Center has purchased 60 homes, completely renovating each one and 41 families have become homeowners.
