During the December 1 game, the FireAntz will team up with military from Ft. Bragg for the 15th annual Operation Toy Drop. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to the game on Dec. 1 for donation to Operation Toy Drop, an airborne operation that collects thousands of toys annually for area children and families in need of a little help during the holiday season.

There will be an Operation Toy Drop ceremony where the team will deliver toys collected by fans to a senior member of the military on the ice during the 2nd intermission.

Fans can donate toys even if they are unable to attend the game by dropping a toy off at the FireAntz office at 220 A N. McPherson Church Road or by visiting www.optoydrop.net to find locations of local drop boxes.

About the Speaker

Dr. Dudley E. Flood is currently a retired educator who serves as the Secretary of the University Of North Carolina Board Of Governors. He also serves on the Substance Abuse Advisory Committee for the North Carolina Prison System, the Minority Cancer Awareness Action Team, and several other boards and committees. He received his B.A. in Social Studies in 1954 from North Carolina Central University, his M.A. in School Administration in 1969 from East Carolina University, and his Ed.D. in 1979 from Duke University. Dr. Flood began his career as a Mathematics, Sciences, and English teacher at the eighth grade level and was promoted to principal of a school covering grades 1-12 before joining the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI) as a specialist in school desegregation and race relations. During his 21 years of service to DPI, he earned promotions to Assistant and then Associate State Superintendent. After his retirement on December 31, 1990, he served for over five years as Executive Director of the North Carolina Association of School Administrators. Since April 1999, he has served as a lecturer and consultant to groups throughout the country. Dr. Flood has received more than 300 awards for civic service. He has been presented the Order of the Longleaf Pine Award (North Carolina’s highest civic award) three different times from Governors James G. Martin, James B. Hunt, Jr., and Mike Easley.

Martina McBride's favorite time of year is Christmas, and the country superstar will be sharing the holidays with fans old and new this year with her 16-city "The Joy of Christmas" Tour.

Backed by a 12-piece band, complete with a string section, Martina brings her love of the holidays to intimate theaters. A video screen depicting wintery street scenes, busy shoppers, snowy mountains and more, tastefully complements traditional and contemporary holiday classics. Multiple wardrobe changes, a duet with "The King," local celebs reciting "The Grinch," and a home video of the McBride's on Christmas morning are guaranteed to put fans in the Christmas spirit.

"My goal is to put everyone in the Christmas spirit by bringing every aspect of Christmas to life on stage," said Martina during her tour rehearsal. "We perform everything from pop classics like 'Let it Snow' and 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' to the beautiful hymns such as 'O Come All Ye Faithful' and 'O Holy Night.' One of the parts I'm most looking forward to is when I go into the audience to chat with fans. It's spontaneous and fun, because you never know what's going to happen! I love Christmas, and I've put together a show that is powerful and full of emotion, as well as fun for the whole family. I would love for this show to become a holiday tradition for everyone."
